"A Star is Born" is the second segment of both the nineteenth episode of the first season and the eleventh episode of the second season of WordWorld. It is also the thirty-eighth and seventy-fourth episodes overall.
Plot[]
Ant, Dog, Duck, Pig, and Sheep build a stage and prepare for an upcoming show with Sheep leading in the nursery rhyme song "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". However, during rehearsal, Sheep falls off the stage and sprains her hoof, leaving her unable to perform. Duck offers to take her place, which Ant is reluctant on, but Sheep says Duck can do it. Duck is initially excited, but right before the show starts that night, he starts getting stage fright upon realizing there is an audience. This makes him forgets the words and instead blurts out who he sees in the audience in place of "star". After the first try, Dog suggests Duck thinks of other "ST" words to help him remember, but this does not work. A concerned Sheep goes backstage and encourages Duck to keep trying. She also suggests they build a star for Duck to see in the audience and remind him of the right word. When Duck tries again, Sheep holds up the star, which helps Duck sing the song right and saves the show.

Trivia[]
- This episode starts with a retelling of the music video "Take the Stage", even using stock footage from said music video, though with some differences:
- The WordFriends building stairs to help themselves onto the stage is removed.
- Different footage is used of the WordFriends going onstage and performing the first half of the last verse.
- Stairs leading onto the stage from the left are added.
- Duck says "hippopotamus" in place of "star" the first time he tries to sing the song, then "ants" on the second attempt.
- This is the third of six episodes from the first season to be repeated in the second season. The other five are "Duck's Family Reunion", "Snug as a Bug", "Dog Wants to Play Ball", "The Lost Letter L", and "Sh-Sh-Shark!".
- "Star" is also featured in the Build-a-Word song in the episode "The Christmas Star".
- This episode marks the following:
- This and "Totally Terrific Duck" make up the last half-hour episode of the second season to feature the music video "Fruit Cha-Cha".
- The episode title shares the same as the 1976 film of the same name, starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Goofs[]
- The stage lack stairs when it is built, but they appear in the next shot. This is due to a use of stock footage.
- Hippo appears in the audience, but disappears a few times.
- Monkey does not shush Cricket.
